Announcements:

• Next Sunday, we will be turning in our Bible Reading Records for February to Susan's box B-1. She will put it back into your box Sunday afternoon. Even if it's late, go ahead and turn it in whenever you get it done. Don't give up!
  
• The next semester for the Baptist Training Institute will start March 10^th. If anyone else is interested in getting on board, please see Bro. Fisher to register now.
  
• The Christian Worker's Conference is scheduled for February 24^th – 27^th at 7 PM each night.
  

  
   

Financial Tips for Hard Times

1. 
   Don't stop giving! (Mal. 3:8-10; Luke 6:38; Prov. 3:9, 10)
   

   This will be your first temptation. In tough times we will be tempted to stop giving to God's work and to others, but remember: you can't out-give God! God blesses those who give. Whether you are tempted to stop giving to God or others- Don't! In the words of the hymn-writer: "Be not dismayed what ere be tide, God will take care of you…"
   

   
    

2. Trust God to meet your needs. (Phil. 4:19; Lk. 11:3, 11, 13)
   

   Fear often grips our hearts during tough times, but God is faithful! Philipians 4:19 is written to those who were faithful to give as a reminder that God would not forget them in their time of need. It is often fear that hinders us in tough times. Fear of failure. Fear of the unknown. Fear of all kinds haunt us and strangle our willingness to trust God. Tough times are testing times for our faith. It has been said that a faith that cannot be tested is a faith that cannot be trusted. Be bold in faith during tough times- trust God!
   

   
    

3. Pray for wisdom managing your finances. (Js. 1:5)
   

   These are days where wisdom is needed. We need wisdom to make financial decisions…to know when to take on that extra payment, or not. We need wisdom to make faith decisions…to trust God for our need when we've been faithful in our giving and stewardship. This kind of wisdom comes from God, and He will give it to you.
   

   
    

4. Pray over all new purchases and expenses. (Js. 4:2; Lk. 11:11-13)
   

   Is it the right time to make this purchase? Can we afford it? Do I really need it? They are all good questions to ask. Pray first…God may provide it for you. You may not really need it- just want it. It may be better to wait until later. Give it some time…and pray!
   

   
    

5. Save when possible. (Prov. 21:20)
   

   It is good to have something put back for "such a time as this." Yet, many have not developed this habit, or circumstances may have prevented it in the past. At any rate, start this new habit of saving. Tough times teach us the importance of saving! One day you may be glad you did!
   

Remember you're not alone. Many are facing similar circumstances…some are worse off than you. During tough times, apply wisdom, be a good steward, and trust God for the outcome.
