Happy New Year!

I trust you had a very merry Christmas celebrating the joys of Jesus this season with all your family and friends. This is a time of two seasons: we are past Christmas and approaching the New Year with hopes and dreams of all the Lord has for us in the future.

As I look ahead, I have great hopes for what God will do in our church in 09. I do long to see the Lord strengthen us as brethren. We have a lot to be thankful for at Northside; yet, we have a lot of ground to cover in our own personal lives as we grow in His grace.

What areas of your life need His grace? Ask Him for a generous portion! Be quick to allow the Lord to mature and grow your faith in Him. The journey to the future requires strong faith to trust God in the unknown. We begin by trusting Him in the known, everyday things of life. Are you ready to go forward? Are you willing to trust God? We may have to trust Him in the dark…in times when you cannot see how the end will turn out.

As I write this, I can't help but think of the Wesson's who have been called upon by our God to walk a dark path, but He is there. They have already seen His hand during this time when they cannot see His face. Their journey will be one of faith- trusting the Lord to guide their steps. Let us all pray for them to sense the grace of God to give them strength and meet their needs in mighty ways!

Not all of the paths of the unknown are filled with trial; some are filled with excitement, surprise and great victory. God even uses difficult times to show us His mighty arm. Like the children of Israel who faced the red sea as they left Egypt thinking they had no way out…but God led them to the sea to show His strength to them!

As we prepare for 2009, may God give us the faith we will need to accomplish His will in our lives. May we excel in our faith this year! May God do great and mighty things among us! May God bless and lead our church family as we go forward in this New Year…..

Happy New Year! (early J)

Dear Church Family,

We have an opportunity to be a blessing to the family of the late Chris Pierce. His wife and 5 children attend Bro. Hugh Harrison's church. They are in desperate need right now, especially for clothes. Also, the children will not have Christmas unless some people provide it for them. We will have a box set up in the fellowship hall for all items for this family. If you are able to help, please bring your gifts already Christmas wrapped and labeled with the right name. We will be through collecting after Sunday, the 21st.

I pray the Lord will allow our church to be a wonderful blessing to this family this Christmas season.
